AbdulRazaq welcomes new Ilorin Chief Imam, describes choice as timely

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the new Chief Imam Fulani of the Ilorin Emirate.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night, the governor also commended the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for selecting the 42-year-old Islamic scholar to occupy the revered religious position.

AbdulRazaq described the appointment as a reflection of the emirate’s commitment to nurturing capable and dynamic leaders who can unite and inspire the Muslim community.

“The choice of a young and vibrant Azhari scholar as the new Chief Imam Fulani reflects the commitment of our community, which His Royal Highness symbolises, to continue to mobilise different demographies of the Muslim Ummah for greater good and development,” the governor said.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Sheikh Dasuki to provide sound spiritual leadership and contribute positively to the growth and unity of the Muslim community in Ilorin and beyond.

The governor also prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and strength for the new Chief Imam as he assumes the responsibilities of the office.

“I ask Allah to guide and protect the new Chief Imam, perfect His blessings upon him, and give him long life and good health in the service of the Ummah,” he added.

AbdulRazaq further urged residents of the emirate and the wider Muslim community to support the new Chief Imam, stressing that collective cooperation would help him succeed in advancing the spiritual and social development of the community.
