Abuja residents applaud Wike for transformative development projects

Residents of Saburi, a community in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have expressed gratitude to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for initiating impactful development projects, including the construction of a critical access road.
The newly completed 5-kilometre road, inaugurated on January 21 last year, connects Saburi 1 and 2 to the Dei Dei International Market and the Murtala Mohammed Expressway. The project has significantly eased access, addressing the community’s long-standing challenges, particularly during the rainy season.
In addition to the road, the minister approved the construction of a police station and a hospital, both of which are currently underway. These projects aim to enhance security and healthcare services in the area.
Alhaji Muhammad Yamawo, the Village Head of Saburi, described the initiatives as transformative. “This road is a blessing to our community. We have suffered greatly in the past, but Wike has wiped our tears,” he said.
Residents also emphasized the economic benefits of the road project. Emmanuel Ogboh, a shop owner, noted increased business activity due to improved vehicular movement, while Mrs. Justina Ocheche, a bean cake vendor, shared how the better road conditions have boosted her sales.
“Before Wike’s intervention, the dust and mud from the bad road affected my business. Now, people move freely, and patronage has increased significantly. God will bless Wike for what he has done,” Ocheche said.
Other residents, including a furniture maker, a car wash owner, and a truck driver, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the road’s positive impact on their businesses and daily lives.
Truck driver Emeka Oduma added, “I’ve been in Saburi for over 10 years, and the road was terrible. Thank God for Wike, who is setting a good example for others to follow.”
While praising Wike’s efforts, residents also appealed for further improvements, such as a stable electricity supply to support water availability and other essential services.
