Accord Party decries destruction of guber candidate’s posters in Ekiti

The leadership of Accord Party in Ekiti State, has raised an alarm over the alleged destruction of the campaign posters of their gubernatorial candidate, Opeyemi David Falegan, by members of the opposition party in parts of Ado-Ekiti ahead of the forthcoming 2026 poll.

Describing the situation as an act of political intolerance, the party noted that the torn posters were sighted along NTA road, Egbewa and other areas within the state’s capital.

The party stressed the need for healthy competition among contenders, urging political actors to shun violence and allow voters decide through a credible process.

While addressing newsmen, the party’s candidate, Opeyemi David Falegan, called for a fair and transparent electoral environment, warning that acts of intimidation could undermine confidence in the democratic process.

While demanding for a thorough investigation into the alleged destruction of his campaign materials, he appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Despite the alleged unprovoked attack, he reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful campaign, urging the public to resist negative politics and support efforts to build a better Ekiti.
