Accord’s Olajengbesi says Osun reconciliation could boost Tinubu’s re-election

Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, has said the recent political reconciliation in Osun State could pave the way for President Bola Tinubu to secure more than one million votes in the state in the next presidential election.
Olajengbesi made the remark on Saturday after a meeting with Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, saying the reconciliation and Governor Adeleke’s stated support for Tinubu had created an opportunity for wider political mobilisation in the state.
According to him, the development had given supporters of the president a clear objective ahead of the next presidential election.
“With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear, to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election,” he said.
Olajengbesi also commended Tinubu for what he described as his support for youth participation in governance, as well as his position during the Osun State governorship election.
He particularly praised Seyi Tinubu for his engagement with young Nigerians, saying he had supported youth aspirations, strengthened relationships and created opportunities for greater participation in governance.
The comments followed the August Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke won with 511,067 votes, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salam, recorded 17,180 votes, according to figures announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC records also show that Osun State has more than 2.3 million registered voters, with about 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards collected. Following his declaration as winner of the governorship election, Adeleke reiterated his support for Tinubu’s re-election.
