Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologised to her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie, following their long-standing controversy and Okorie’s arrest.
Angela had been granted bail after her arrest on January 27. She was initially remanded in Suleja Prison, Abuja, after being apprehended by policemen from the Cybercrime Center in Abuja. She was accused of cyberbullying Mercy through a series of Instagram posts directed at her.
On Wednesday, January 29, she was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja and remanded in Suleja Prison. She was subsequently granted bail on January 30 in the sum of N5 million, which was perfected on Tuesday, February 3.
In a video released on Wednesday evening, Angela apologised to Mercy for the derogatory remarks she had posted. She said she was ready to bury the hatchet, especially for the sake of their children, referring to Mercy as her friend.
“This video is specifically for Mercy, her kids, and her family. I am not perfect, and I want to apologise. If it’s my words, anything I’ve written, anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry.
“You are not a w!tch. You are not what people are calling you. I just want to make peace. Our kids may meet and become friends, and as mothers, we cannot stop that.
“I do not condone bullying, and I apologise for anything I might have done or said against you, knowingly or unknowingly. This is a new beginning. You are my friend, and I will never listen to gossip about you again. I love you, and I pray that God blesses and lifts you higher,” she said.
Mercy had earlier shared videos of her daughter allegedly being bullied at school due to the derogatory remarks made about her mother.
