Actress Ireti Doyle explains silence on divorce from Patrick Doyle

Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has explained why she chose not to speak publicly about her divorce from actor Patrick Doyle, stating that the matter was private and not for public discourse.
Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, Ireti said her decision to remain silent was deliberate, insisting that the public was not entitled to details about the end of her marriage.
“First of all you did not hear anything because it was none of your business. Two people come together and decided to get married. There is a celebration. If you do it right you have a few friends and family around you and you carry on with life. Sadly or unfortunately, something goes wrong, you can no longer continue on the journey to life together,” she said.
She maintained that the only people she owed any explanation to were family members and close associates who were present at the beginning of the union.
The 58-year-old actress added that she is not accountable to a wider audience, noting that many people do not genuinely care about such personal matters.
She also criticised the culture of sharing personal struggles online for attention, advising individuals to reflect on their experiences and learn from them rather than seeking validation from the public.
The couple got married in 2004 and finalised their divorce in early 2023. Despite their separation, both have continued to maintain a professional relationship on screen.
Patrick Doyle remarried in 2022, tying the knot with Olufunmilayo, and publicly confirmed the union in March 2023.
