Actress Jumoke Odetola reacts to public concerns over transition to gospel ministry

Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has reacted to public concerns over her transition into gospel ministry.

The actress announced the major life transition through an Instagram post on Friday, stating that she had answered a calling to become a minister of the gospel. She appreciated fans and colleagues who checked in while she was off the screen, expressing concerns over her recent posts, and confirmed that her new status prompted their actions.

She wrote, “Yes. Something is going on in my life but nothing is wrong with me. I am entering a new season with God. I am now a preacher of the gospel. When God compels you, you may delay, but you cannot escape the call”.

Odetola added that she contemplated whether to publicise the news or remain private about it, but chose to make the announcement before someone recorded her preaching on the street and posted it online. She concluded her post by asking for prayers to help her navigate the new season.

In another post, the actress shared a video of herself selecting outfits that befit her new status while soliciting public opinions on what choice to make. The development quickly gained attention online, as netizens expressed concerns over her new lifestyle.

Reacting to the concerns, Odetola took to her Instagram page on Tuesday, acknowledging that she was aware of the discussions surrounding her transition. She noted that while some concerns were genuine, others were mocking, with some wondering whether the development would mark the end of her acting career. However, she promised to share details of the events that led to her transition on October 1.

“I’ve been seeing posts, assumptions, and narratives surrounding my ministry and the call of God upon me. Some out of love, some out of concern, and some simply out of curiosity asking, ‘What’s next with Jumoke Odetola now?’ I believe it is only right that I speak and address these matters properly and in detail. October 1st, 10:00 a.m. Thank you,” she wrote.
