ADC candidate challenges Ipinsagba to account for Ondo North representation

The Ondo North senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Prince Foluso Mayowa Adefemi, has challenged the incumbent senator representing the district, Olajide Ipinsagba, to make his legislative record and constituency interventions public ahead of the 2027 election.
Adefemi made the call while speaking on representation and accountability in Ondo North, which comprises six local government areas. He said residents deserved clear information on the activities and interventions undertaken by their elected representative since assuming office.
According to him, elected officials should regularly account to the people they represent by providing information on their legislative activities, projects and other constituency interventions. He argued that such engagement would enable constituents to better understand how their representatives were addressing issues affecting their communities.
Adefemi said accountability should also involve regular interaction between elected officials and residents, particularly at the grassroots. He maintained that constituents should have opportunities to raise concerns, seek explanations and contribute to discussions on matters affecting their communities.
Outlining his proposed approach to representation, the ADC candidate said he would prioritise grassroots engagement and focus on areas including youth development, education, healthcare and infrastructure. He said his agenda would be shaped by the needs identified through direct engagement with residents across the district.
He added that his campaign would continue to engage communities in the six local government areas, with emphasis on making representation more accessible. Adefemi said regular engagement would allow residents to communicate their concerns and enable their representative to maintain closer contact with the people.
The candidate further pledged to establish regular town-hall meetings across Ondo North if elected. He said the meetings would provide a platform for constituents to ask questions about his legislative activities and constituency resources, while also allowing him to receive feedback on issues requiring attention.
The 2027 Ondo North senatorial race includes Ipinsagba of the All Progressives Congress and Adefemi of the African Democratic Congress, alongside candidates from other political parties. Ipinsagba is the current senator representing Ondo North.
