ADC will present credible candidates for 2027 elections – Bolaji Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it will fully participate in the 2027 general elections, insisting that it remains focused on producing “credible, competent and nationally acceptable candidates” to challenge the ruling party.

Speaking in a statement issued by the party, the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed recent claims that the party would not field candidates in the next elections, describing such reports as false and misleading.

“The ADC will present candidates in the 2027 general elections. Not just candidates, but credible, competent, and nationally acceptable candidates who are capable of leading this country out of its current crisis,” Abdullahi said.

He said the party remains committed to its mission of providing a strong opposition platform and what he described as a “rescue agenda” for Nigeria, aimed at addressing insecurity, economic hardship, and governance challenges under the current administration.

“We remain focused on our mission to rescue Nigeria from the failure of the APC-led government and to prevent the dangerous slide toward a one-party state,” the statement added.

The ADC also dismissed suggestions that it faces any legal or structural barriers to participating in the 2027 polls, insisting it is fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

“There is no legal impediment to our participation in the 2027 elections, and any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” Abdullahi stated.

He further said the party is actively strengthening its structures nationwide and mobilising support ahead of the elections, stressing that it is not distracted by speculation.
