Adelabu clarifies misconceptions about his personality ahead of 2027 election

By Adejayan Gbenga –

Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed claims that he is arrogant or inaccessible, describing such perceptions as unfounded.

Adelabu made the clarification at the weekend while hosting members of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and On-Air Personalities (OAPs) at his Iyaganku residence in Ibadan.

He said the interactive session was not a political rally but a meeting to strengthen relationships with stakeholders who play key roles in shaping public opinion.

“I’m one of the most accessible politicians in this state, and I’m not arrogant as some people claim,” Adelabu said. “I’m not stingy either; those who are close to me can attest to that. Nobody is perfect except God, and my goal is to build a harmonious working relationship so we can move Oyo State forward.”

The minister appealed to members of the APC in Oyo State to unite ahead of the 2027 governorship election, warning that internal divisions cost the party victory in both 2019 and 2023.

Adelabu also urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians in general to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, assuring that the current economic hardship would soon give way to better days.

In their remarks, some TAMPAN members and OAPs pledged their support for Adelabu’s 2027 ambition, promising to use their platforms to promote unity and progress.

Highlighting his commitment to the creative and media sectors, Adelabu announced a ₦20 million donation to support TAMPAN members and broadcasters in the state.
