CSO elders suspend executives for meddling in Ondo politics

Elders of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Ondo State (CACSOD) have suspended the coalition’s executive members for three months over allegations of political interference in its operations.

In a communiqué released in Akure and signed by seven elders led by Chief Akomolafe Pius, the group said the move became necessary to safeguard the coalition’s image and restore public confidence in its activities.

They said recent controversies and conflicting public statements had stirred confusion among stakeholders and painted the coalition in a negative light.

“We, the elders of the Coalition of All Civil Societies in Ondo State (CACSOD), find it necessary to intervene at this critical moment to protect the name, integrity, and image of our Coalition.

“Following the recent press release and counter-press statements circulating across various media platforms regarding the alleged defection of some politicians in the state, we are deeply concerned by the disorder and mismanagement of information in how the coalition’s executives handled and responded to the situation.

“We, therefore, make the resolution that the current executives of the coalition be suspended for three months, during which time they shall not be permitted to carry out any activity or function in the name of the coalition.

“And that the executives refrain from issuing any press release, statement, or granting interviews on behalf of the coalition throughout the period of suspension,” they ordered.

The elders said a review committee has been constituted to investigate the incident and recommend sanctions where necessary, while reaffirming that CACSOD remains a non-partisan group committed to promoting good governance, transparency, and civic engagement.
