The Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has expressed deep sympathy to gospel artiste and media personality, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the fire outbreak at his radio station, Fresh FM 105.9, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu described the incident as “sad and unfortunate,” adding that he received reports of the devastating fire with profound concern.

“Fresh FM has been a pillar of quality broadcasting, entertainment, and public enlightenment in Oyo State and across Nigeria,” the minister said. “I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Ayefele, the management and staff of Fresh FM, as well as the good people of Oyo State, over this unfortunate incident.”

Adelabu stressed that the fire underscores the critical importance of electrical safety in both public and private facilities.

He urged all stakeholders to conduct regular inspections of power infrastructure and strictly adhere to safety standards to minimise fire risks.

The minister also commended the “swift and courageous” efforts of the Oyo State Fire Service, first responders, and supportive neighbours who worked tirelessly to contain the blaze.

He noted that their dedication demonstrates the value of emergency preparedness and strong community cooperation.

“During this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with Dr. Yinka Ayefele and the entire Fresh FM family,” he added.
