Adeleke accuses Oyetola, Oyebamiji of plotting to disrupt Osun poll
Predicts early victory in August 15 governorship election

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, of plotting to disrupt the August 15 governorship election over alleged fears of defeat.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke alleged that opposition elements within the Osun APC are bent on subverting the will of the people, having realised they stand no chance at the polls.
He alleged that the former governor and the APC candidate were exploring anti-democratic means to influence the outcome of the election after losing public support across the state.
The statement further claimed that opinion surveys commissioned by the Osun APC from the last quarter of 2025 to March 2026 consistently placed the party’s popularity below 30 per cent, while Adeleke’s approval rating remained between 68 and 72 per cent.
“This clearly shows that Governor Adeleke enjoys overwhelming support from the people. The opposition can already see the outcome ahead of August 15,” the statement said, describing the development as a serious concern for the opposition.
It also disclosed that the opposition’s desperation worsened following recent remarks by an APC governorship aspirant, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s stance on the Osun election, which reportedly ruled out federal interference.
The statement further alleged that Oyetola and the Osun APC orchestrated the local government crisis to stall development and deny the people dividends of democracy, as well as attempted to engineer a state of emergency through the unlawful invasion of local government secretariats, which it said failed.
Adeleke also claimed that the opposition attempted to factionalise political platforms such as the Accord Party, adding that efforts to push for its deregistration would also fail.
