Adeleke camp, APC clash over alleged Osun billboard vandalism

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State of carrying out coordinated acts of political vandalism, alleging that billboards belonging to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign and the Accord Party were destroyed in several local government areas.
In a statement on Friday signed by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said the attacks occurred in the early hours of the day in Irewole, Ayedaade, Ife, Irepodun, Oriade and Osogbo Local Government Areas.
The council described the incident as a threat to democratic engagement and peaceful political participation, warning against rising political intolerance in the state.
Olajengbesi alleged that the operation was coordinated by a suspected thug identified as Asiri Eniba, with the support or negligence of some security operatives who allegedly failed to intervene.

“The people of Osun State must begin to pay close attention to the desperation currently consuming the Osun APC. Having failed to inspire the people with any meaningful agenda or alternative vision for governance, and being overwhelmed by the massive acceptance Governor Ademola Adeleke continues to enjoy across the state, the APC and its operatives now appear determined to embrace intimidation, violence, destruction of opposition materials, and fear tactics as a political strategy,” he said.
The council called on the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to investigate the attacks and ensure that all those involved, including alleged sponsors, are brought to justice. It also urged international observers, election monitoring bodies and human rights organisations to take note of what it described as growing intimidation in Osun’s political space.
In response, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council dismissed the allegations as false, describing them as an attempt to discredit the party.
The APC, through its Head of Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Remi Omowaiye, countered that its own campaign materials for candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) had instead been targeted by political thugs allegedly linked to the state government and the Accord Party.
