Adeleke commissions fire trucks to enhance emergency response in Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday commissioned three new fire trucks for the State Fire Service, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving emergency response and safeguarding lives and property.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Adeleke described the development as a significant milestone, noting that the last procurement of fire trucks in the state occurred over 14 years ago — a gap he called both “alarming and unacceptable.”

“Today, I am proud to announce that this administration has taken decisive steps to revive the Osun State Fire Service. We have so far procured seven modern fire trucks and one water tanker to significantly boost our emergency response capacity,” he said.

He added that essential firefighting gear had been provided to ensure fire officers are properly equipped and protected, with training also prioritised to enhance professionalism and efficiency.

“The commissioning of these additional three fire trucks underscores our unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property,” Adeleke said, adding that the goal is to provide at least one fire truck to each of the nine federal constituencies in the state and one at the Fire Service Headquarters.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Abdulrosheed Aderibigbe, commended the governor’s efforts despite economic challenges, noting that seven of the nine federal constituencies have now been equipped.

He recalled that prior to the current intervention, the fire service operated with outdated equipment inherited from the former Oyo State, and that the only meaningful procurement before now was during the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration.
