Adeleke condoles Makinde, Oyo residents over Ibadan stampede

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended his condolences to his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde, over the tragic loss of lives during a stampede at a funfair event in Ibadan.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the incident as deeply traumatic and expressed heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the government and people of Osun State to those affected.

The Governor assured the people of Oyo of his solidarity during this challenging period, stating, “I am truly devastated by the colossal loss of lives at a funfair event in Ibadan this Wednesday. The tragic incident is unimaginable. On behalf of the government and people of Osun State, I extend my condolences to my brother, Governor Seyi Makinde, and to the people of Oyo State, particularly those who lost loved ones in the stampede.”

He further prayed for the quick recovery of those injured and receiving medical attention, describing the incident as a monumental loss, not just for Oyo State but for humanity as a whole.

“In this difficult moment, I assure Governor Makinde of my unwavering support in navigating through this unfortunate incident. I also pray to God Almighty for the swift and safe recovery of those injured,” he added.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of solidarity in overcoming the tragedy and urged event planners to prioritize safety at all times. He concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of the departed.
