The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Friday hosted a special Christmas brunch for children from two foster homes at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. The event, filled with the joyous spirit of Christmas and the New Year, aimed to spread festive cheer and promote messages of love, unity, and compassion.
In a statement by Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady, the gathering was designed to inspire kindness and foster a sense of community during the holiday season.
Addressing the audience, Senator Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to embrace the true essence of Christmas, highlighting the importance of kindness and selflessness.
“Christmas should remind us to love our neighbors and help those in need,” she said. “Next year, let’s make it a year of love and a cleaner, greener Nigeria.”
The First Lady also reflected on the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians, pledging a continued commitment to progress in the coming year. She described 2025 as a year of hope, love, and the realization of God’s goodness for the nation.
During the event, Senator Tinubu shared a reading from her book, The Christmas Story, which reimagines the birth of Jesus Christ with Nigerian characters, delivering a message of hope and purpose. She encouraged the children to emulate Christ’s example of love and kindness.
The children, drawn from the Abuja Children Home and Vine Heritage Home Foundation (VHHF), participated in a national anthem contest, with winners receiving cash prizes. They were also treated to gifts, food, and drinks, making the celebration memorable.
Speaking to journalists after the event, the First Lady urged Nigerians to approach the new year with optimism and faith.
“The year ahead is a time to work hard, remain faithful, and build a better Nigeria for all,” she said.
Notable attendees included the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abass; and other distinguished spouses of government officials.
