Adeleke confident of electoral victory as Davido mobilises support in Osun
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his reelection bid ahead of the August 15 governorship election is “unstoppable”.
Popular music star, David Adeleke (Davido), also canvassed mass support for the governor, saying, “My uncle has delivered. I urge you all to mobilise and support his re-election; it is in the best interest of Osun State.”
In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday, Adeleke said opposition efforts to unseat his administration would fail.
The governor, who accused the opposition of spreading falsehoods and attempting to undermine his government, said, “Osun people have sworn not to go back to the dark days.”
Addressing transport management system leaders at the Imole House in Osogbo, he highlighted the performance of his administration in education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and the digital economy, declaring that “those claiming not to see our great works and performance have the people to contend with”.
He said, “Our people experienced the APC times; they are comparing our tenure with the locust years of the APC. By God and man, I will be re-elected to continue the good job we are doing for Osun people”.
Adeleke maintained that his administration had delivered on its mandate, stressing that residents were in a position to compare his tenure with that of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). He also alleged that the APC diverted over N300 billion meant for local government funds, saying that despite the alleged action, his government had continued to deliver on its mandate.
Earlier, the chairman of the motorcyclists’ wing of the transport body, Sikirulahi Ayobami, commended the governor for various projects executed across the state, pledging continued support from members of the association.
