By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday inaugurated the Lameco Flyover in Osogbo, saying his administration has constructed over 300 kilometres of roads across the state since assuming office.
Speaking at the inauguration, Adeleke also disclosed that his administration had completed more than 27 kilometres of intracity roads in Osogbo, adding that over 10 major projects had been completed and were ready for commissioning.
The governor said the projects were executed in line with due process and transparency without mortgaging the state’s future, noting that communities across Osun had benefited from his administration’s infrastructure drive.
Adeleke said the quality of the flyover demonstrated the success of the state’s local content policy, stressing that Nigerian engineers had proved they could deliver projects that meet global standards.
“The high quality of this flyover confirms the workability of our local content model. We have proven to the whole world that our local engineers can perform to world-class standards. The Lameco Flyover is proof that when resources and people are well managed, good governance is the outcome,” he said.
Presenting the project report, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Idowu Bello, said the four-span flyover was among the flagship projects promised by the Adeleke administration at the commencement of its tenure.
Bello said the project was executed by Messrs. Kimzee Global Investment Limited, with Hanconk Ogundiya and Partners serving as consultants, while the Nigerian Society of Engineers and representatives of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria monitored compliance with engineering standards.
He added that the bridge spans 672 metres, including retaining walls, features 5.5-metre dual carriageways separated by a Jersey kerb median, and is equipped with solar-powered street lights, traffic lights, cat eyes and reflective studs to improve visibility and enhance road safety.
