Adeleke: Tinubu allowed free election in Osun because he fought for democracy

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commended President Bola Tinubu for allowing a free and fair election in the state, saying the decision reflected his commitment to democracy.
Adeleke said this while speaking to State House correspondents on Thursday after meeting with the President since his re-election in the August 15 governorship election at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He, therefore, thanked Tinubu for what he described as his support for democratic principles, saying the President could have deployed the influence of the Federal Government in Osun but chose not to.
According to Adeleke, Tinubu’s decision was influenced by his history of fighting for democracy.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy. That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result,” Adeleke said.
“That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” he added.
Western Post reported that Adeleke arrived at the forecourt of the Villa at about 5:20 p.m. on in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, dressed in a navy blue traditional outfit and carrying a walking stick. He was accompanied by National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other members of his team.
