Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday unveiled a N159bn infrastructure plan for 2025, focusing on the road, health, and education sectors. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Exco Lounge, Abere.

The governor had in December 2023 introduced a N100bn infrastructure plan, which also covered roads, education, and healthcare. The newly unveiled plan builds on that foundation with expanded projects to enhance critical infrastructure across the state.

Adeleke explained that the projects would be funded through state allocations, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and special funds from the Federal Government. He assured residents that his administration would not resort to borrowing to finance the projects.

He emphasized that both inherited and fresh road projects were scheduled for implementation this year. Among the key projects are the Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State Boundary Road, Osogbo-Ikirun-Inisha-Kwara State Boundary Road, Ejigbo-Isoko-Aye-Oguro Road, and the dualization of Odo-Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction.

On the education sector, Adeleke disclosed that 18 schools, including Ede High School, C.A.C. Grammar School, and Agboran School of Science, would undergo rehabilitation. Additionally, 124 Primary Health Centres across the state would be completely renovated to improve healthcare access.

Reviewing the progress of the 2023 infrastructure plan, Adeleke stated that over 150 kilometers of roads, 200 Primary Health Centres, and 99 schools had been reconstructed, rehabilitated, or renovated. Several dualization and flyover projects are also at various stages of completion.

He provided updates on key projects, revealing that the Ilesa dualization project and the Ile-Ife flyover were both 60 percent completed, while the Oke-Fia flyover was over 90 percent done. The LAMECO flyover was about 50 percent executed, and the Oke Gada bridge was nearing 70 percent completion.

Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cutting waste and boosting the local economy through a local content policy. “Osun money will continue to flow within the Osun economy. We will continue to engage our local companies, local engineers, suppliers, and artisans,” he assured.
