Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents and indigenes of the state to actively participate in the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which commenced on Monday.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described voter registration as a critical civic duty, especially for those who have just attained the voting age.

He urged all eligible citizens to ensure their names are captured in the voters’ register ahead of the forthcoming elections, stressing that participation is vital to strengthening democracy.

Adeleke highlighted the importance of the 2026 governorship election, which he described as pivotal to consolidating good governance in the state. He also advised voters who may have lost or misplaced their cards to obtain replacements.

“We all must exercise our voting right to sustain a listening and responsive administration,” the governor said, while urging Osun residents in other states to transfer their voting cards home before August 2026.

According to him, the voter’s card remains a powerful tool to entrench people-oriented leadership, safeguard democracy, and preserve the progress Osun has witnessed in the past two and a half years.

He further encouraged citizens to update their details, vote, and protect their mandate during elections. “We must be ready to stop electoral robbers if they attempt to thwart the will of the people,” he warned.

The governor also directed state officials and community leaders across all local governments to mobilise residents for the CVR, expressing optimism that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct a smooth and transparent exercise.
