Adeleke vows probe, justice for victims of Osun election violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged to pursue justice for victims of election-related violence, announcing plans to establish an Independent Commission of Inquiry immediately after Saturday’s governorship election.

Adeleke, at a press conference in Osogbo on Friday, said the commission would be constituted on Monday to investigate reported killings and acts of violence recorded during the election period.

“The commission will establish the circumstances surrounding these incidents and recommend appropriate actions to ensure that everyone responsible is brought to justice, regardless of political affiliation, position or influence,” he stated.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, Adeleke also promised government support and compensation for families of those who lost their lives, saying the memories of the victims would be appropriately honoured.

Adeleke expressed condolences to the families of all those who had lost their lives in the violence, stressing that “every life lost is an Osun life”.

“The election will come and go, but we will remain one people. We owe the dead justice, their families compassion, and the people of Osun a peaceful future,” he added.
