AFCON 2025: On paper, Super Eagles strong enough to excel – Eguavoen

Former Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, believes the Super Eagles have a strong squad on paper to excel at the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
Eguavoen, who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), expressed optimism that the Super Eagles will perform well at the tournament later in the year.
However, he warned that the team must be cautious of their opponents in Group C.
“On paper, the Super Eagles look very strong in Group C. The AFCON draw is favorable for Nigeria, but the team must prove it on the field,” Eguavoen stated.
“Nothing comes easy, especially in football. If you don’t prepare well, you won’t get the desired result.”
“If you want to be champions, you must be ready to face and defeat any team. There are no more underdogs in football.”
“Personally, I am happy with the AFCON draw, and the players and the Federation are equally pleased.”
“It is up to us to plan properly, prepare thoroughly, and execute the job well,” the former Super Eagles captain added.
