AFCON Title: CAS sets November deadline for Senegal’s appeal ruling

By Tosin Omojola

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to deliver its final ruling on Senegal’s appeal against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Morocco over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final at the end of November 2026.

The arbitrators are still deliberating on the case following a hearing held on October 8, 2026.

The dispute centres on Senegal’s challenge to CAF’s decision to strip the country of the AFCON title, which it won after defeating hosts Morocco in the 2025 final.

Senegal is seeking to overturn the decision, with the Lausanne-based sports tribunal expected to determine the outcome of the appeal.

The ruling is expected to provide clarity on the controversy, as the football community awaits the final decision.
