AFN names Gabriel Okon as Technical Director

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has constituted its technical committee, with Gabriel Okon appointed as the Technical Director.

The appointment of the former sprinter, who now serves as the South-South representative on the new board, was announced by AFN President, Chief Tonobok Okowa, during their inaugural meeting on Friday.

Okon, who replaces Samuel Onikeku, will head the seven-member technical committee.

Members of the committee include Solomon Aliyu, Samuel Onikeku, Victor Okorie, Oluyomi Oladimeji Sule, Lekan Soetan, Fatima Yusuf, and Professor Ken Anugweje.

According to Chief Okowa, the committee members are expected to bring their wealth of experience and renewed dedication to help elevate the AFN to new heights.

He emphasized that their technical input will play a key role in the federation’s strategic development moving forward.

The AFN President also assured that the federation’s secretariat will provide the necessary administrative support to enable the committee to perform its duties effectively.
