Africa has talent to win World Cup – CAF President
By Tosin Omojola
Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has declared that an African national team must win the FIFA World Cup.
Motsepe made the declaration on Thursday at the CAF Strategy Conference in Cape Verde, stressing the need for African football to raise its ambitions and compete for the biggest prize in international football.
He said Africa had the talent and potential to produce a World Cup-winning team, adding that achieving the feat should be a major objective for the continent’s football authorities.
No African team has reached the FIFA World Cup final, with Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals at Qatar 2022 remaining the continent’s best performance in the tournament’s history.
