Chief Omikunmi Egbelade, Aare Isese and Baba Yemoja of Oyo State, has praised Governor Seyi Makinde for fostering inclusivity and recognizing all religious groups, particularly practitioners of traditional religions.
In an interview with The People’s Verdict, Egbelade said, “Makinde has created an inclusive administration. Despite being a Christian, he respects all religions and does not discriminate.”
He noted that under previous governments, traditional worshippers were often marginalized. “Now, under Makinde, we are fully recognized and can participate in state events. He even fulfilled his promise to make Isese Day a work-free holiday,” he added.
Highlighting the impact on religious harmony, Egbelade recalled the Ijaiye Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone groundbreaking on August 2, 2025, where Muslims, Christians, and traditional worshippers offered prayers together, showcasing peaceful coexistence.
He also emphasized the economic benefits of traditional festivals, noting that events such as the Sango and Yemoja festivals attract international tourists, boosting local businesses and government revenue.
Egbelade commended Makinde’s infrastructure and development projects, including major roads, the Circular Road, and the ongoing upgrade of Ladoke Akintola Airport, saying these initiatives are creating jobs and supporting the state’s economy.
“Governor Makinde is disciplined, fair, and committed to Oyo State’s growth,” Egbelade concluded, noting that his leadership has strengthened religious unity and reduced social unrest.
