Ahmadiyya Muslim elders urge faith-based solutions to Nigeria’s challenges at convention

The Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria, the elders’ wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, has called for faith-based solutions rooted in equity, justice, moral integrity and diplomacy to address Nigeria’s economic hardship, social instability and global conflicts, at the conclusion of its 50th Annual National Convention held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Golden Jubilee National Ijtema, themed “Faith-Based Solutions to Global Challenges,” was held from August 21 to 23, 2026, at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, with delegates drawn from across Nigeria as well as international representatives from Benin Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon and Sierra Leone.
The three-day gathering featured religious lectures, Quranic recitation and speech competitions, special prayers for global peace and national stability, as well as courtesy visits to religious, traditional and political leaders, while a two-day free medical outreach at the General Hospital, Iberekodo, provided consultations and medicines to more than 1,000 people and free eyeglasses to 137 beneficiaries.
In its resolutions, the elders emphasised the institution of Khilafah as a central pillar of Muslim unity and moral renewal, urging members to reflect prophetic leadership values in their families and communities, while also stressing preventive healthcare, early detection of non-communicable diseases and greater awareness of mental health challenges among older people.
The convention further called for stronger interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence in line with the Ahmadiyya motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None,” and pledged continued support for grassroots healthcare, education and social infrastructure through organisations including the Ahmadi Medical and Health Professionals Association of Nigeria, Humanity First International, the International Association of Ahmadi Architects and Engineers and the Ahmadiyya Cyclist Association of Nigeria.
On human capital development, the gathering highlighted the establishment of the Masroor International Technical College in Ilaro, Ogun State, and Minaret University in Ikirun, Osun State, describing the two fully accredited institutions as part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s commitment to academic excellence and the development of skills and human capacity.
On national security and politics, the group commended government efforts to combat insecurity, banditry and economic crimes, while calling for stronger measures to protect lives and property and promote a just society governed by the rule of law, and ahead of the 2027 general elections, it urged political parties to adopt issue-based campaigns, avoid mud-slinging and character assassination, ensure free and fair polls, and encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission to remain an impartial electoral umpire.
The convention renewed Majlis Ansarullah Nigeria’s commitment to translating the lessons of its Golden Jubilee into sustained action in faith, peace, humanitarian service, education and national development, while expressing gratitude to Allah Almighty, the Supreme Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (atba), the Amir and Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, the Ogun State Government, the Alake of Egbaland, security agencies, the people of Abeokuta and all members whose support contributed to the success of the convention.
