Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has highlighted the addition of about 500 personnel to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.

Aiyedatiwa disclosed this on Monday at a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) elders at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Akure, where he also outlined some achievements of his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor said the recruitment of additional security personnel was among measures being taken to improve security and support development across Ondo State. He also cited ongoing road projects and investments in health care facilities and equipment among the areas of focus of his administration.

In addition, Aiyedatiwa said his administration had recruited more than 6,000 workers, describing the development as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s workforce and improve service delivery.

The governor, however, linked the achievements of his administration to the need for unity within the APC, urging party leaders and members to work together to sustain political stability in the state.

He directed the activation of the APC Elders Council across the state’s 18 local government areas and called on members to operate under one structure across the 203 wards and 3,933 polling units.

Aiyedatiwa also urged APC members to support President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 elections, attributing increased resources available to state governments to the president’s reforms. He described Tinubu as “very courageous” and “very bold” and called for support for his re-election bid.

Meanwhile, APC state Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, said the experience of party elders remained crucial to the stability and growth of the party. Similarly, the Chairman of the APC Elders Council, Senator Nimbe Farukanmi, urged members to set aside their differences and support Aiyedatiwa, Tinubu and other APC candidates, while other elders, including Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, Pastor Segun Ayerin and Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose-Ajasin, called for greater unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
