Aiyedatiwa rallies APC elders for Tinubu, party candidates ahead of 2027 elections

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unite and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and all party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aiyedatiwa made the call on Monday while addressing the APC Elders Council meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Akure, where he unveiled the party’s mobilisation plan across the state’s 18 local government areas.
The governor declared that the APC had only one structure in Ondo State and warned against attempts to factionalise the party, saying unity was essential to achieving its political objectives. “APC is one. There are no two APCs in Ondo State. APC is one, All Progressives Congress,” he said.
He called for the activation of the Elders Council across the 18 local government areas, as well as stronger coordination across the state’s 203 wards and 3,933 polling units. He urged members to support all APC candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
Aiyedatiwa also rallied support for Tinubu, describing the president as courageous and bold in implementing reforms. He said the reforms had increased resources available to states for the execution of development projects and programmes.
The governor highlighted some achievements of his administration, saying more than 6,000 people had been recruited into the state workforce, including teachers, health workers, agricultural workers and primary healthcare personnel. He added that about 500 additional personnel had been recruited into the Amotekun security corps.
On infrastructure and healthcare, Aiyedatiwa said road construction was ongoing across the 18 local government areas, alongside urban renewal projects and the construction of the Akure flyover. He also listed hospital projects in Ondo, Okitipupa, Ikare and Irele, as well as the procurement of an MRI machine and CT scan for the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH).
The APC state chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, and Chairman of the Elders Council, Senator Nimbe Farukanmi, stressed the importance of elders’ contributions to the party and called for unity among members.
