Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the harmonisation of monthly pensions for retired heads of service and permanent secretaries with the salaries of serving officers in the same cadre.
The Head of Service, Segun Odusanya, announced the approval in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Information in the Office of the Head of Service, Sina Adeyeye.
According to Odusanya, the new pension structure would take effect from July 1, 2026, in line with the practice adopted in several states across the country.
He explained that the decision followed an appeal by the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, which was forwarded to the governor through the Office of the Head of Service.
The head of service also disclosed that Aiyedatiwa approved the payment of outstanding gratuities owed to retired permanent secretaries in the state public service.
Similarly, he disclosed that the approval is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to offset gratuity arrears owed to retirees in both the state and local government services.
Odusanya further noted that the approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of retired public servants while strengthening confidence in the state civil service.
