Projected 12 million votes: APC’S NWC and leadership hierarchy should be more ambitious, by Kola Amzat
Based on the World meter’s elaboration of the latest United Nations of July 09, 2026, the Nigeria current population stood at 242.4 million.
However, it’s bad enough that of this huge population, the registered voters have only crossed about 100 millPROJECTED 12 MILLION VOTES: APC’S NWC AND Lion mark, with about 90 million PVs collection recorded.
It’s also absurd that only about 36 million Nigerians are currently registered as eligible voters.
But, be that as it may, it’s compelling that we should operate optimally with available figures.
As the ruling party presently in firm control of 36 states, including FCT administration, and enjoys imperial dominance in the national assembly, with an incredible stock of 89 senators and more than 289 House of Reps members in its fold, and more importantly, with the huge accomplishments of the president and his government across all sector visible enough for Nigerians to see over the last 3 years, the projection of the ruling party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the leadership hierarchy should be more than 50% of the eligible voters, which technically translates to about 18 million voters. This is against the 12 million that has been in everyone’s mouth.
This writer is of deep conviction that the tremendous achievements of the president across sectors quite outweighs the 12 million vote’s projection being bandied.
It’s also instructive to stress to the party’s NWC and leadership hierarchy that 12 million vote’s projection which in all reasonableness is not only very conservative, but somehow discouraging to 31 governors and their states’ Executive committee (EXCO) members who have been more adventurous, and confident of their resounding victory during the forthcoming polls.
For emphasis, more than 95% of 31 state governors, alongside their EXCO have been audacious expressing their confidence that they have capacity to achieve more than 1 million votes in their various states especially during the presidential polls.
The only exceptions are Ekiti and Bayelsa authorities that have projected lesser figures, and this is consequent upon the lesser population of the two states. Of course, their position is understandable.
Without much ado, what does the ruling party’s NWC and leadership hierarchy need to do to cause a significant shift from the already projected 12 million votes?
The president non-controverted accomplishments across all sectors are all there to flaunt to the electorates REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATIONS in all the nooks and crannies.
In the same vein, The Presidential Media Team reports of federal government achievements-infrastructures, healthcare, education, technology and digital initiatives, across geo-political zones are on-going. The team has concluded on North West and South east zones.
Literally, they’ve four geo-political zones to round up their all-important assignment. The team should therefore be mandated to commence forthwith the visitation and tour of the remaining zones and also be given TIMELINE to complete.
Meanwhile, the team should start overwhelming the Nigerian tabloid, National Television Stations, as well as Social Media Platforms with the reports of their findings.
There shouldn’t be any delay whatsoever in this respect.
More importantly, as campaign time draws closer, National Orientation Agency (NOA) should be alive to their responsibility and constitutionally-imposed mandate by commence forthwith the process of bringing to attention of Nigerians comprehensive details of the achievements of the government across sectors, by deploying all key languages-English, Yoruba, Hausa-Fulani, Igbo, Pidgin etc to connect and passionately interface with Nigerians regardless of their political affiliations, religion, creed, ethnicity, sex.
The amiable and resourceful DG of NOA, Mallam Issa-Onilu must be ready to mobilize his staff across the country for this all-important assignment.
Fortunately, NOA has its job cut out. The president and government loads of achievements as under listed are there to flaunt.
Diversification of economy with non-oil revenue, with achievement of 2025 revenue target by August with over ₦20 trillion, while in September 2025, ₦3.65 trillion also raised, amounting to 411% higher than the total sum raised in May 2023.
Improved fiscal health, with debt service-to revenue ratio significantly reduced from 97% to below 50%
Stronger Foreign Reserves, with external reserves already crossed $50 billion mark
Rising Tax-to-GDP Ratio, with the ratio already 13.50% from less than 10%.
Nigeria is now a Net Exporter Country, with trade surplus recorded for five consecutive quarters, with non-oil exports now represent 48%, compared to oil exports at 52%
The rebound of oil production, with about 1.7 million barrels per day from well below the position of 1 million pre-2023.
Stabilization of domestic currency, consequent upon government foreign exchange reforms that has unified multiple exchange rates.
The creation of Social Investment Schemes, a wonderful initiative of the government that has facilitated disbursement of more than ₦350 billion to more than eight million households across the country, many of whom had received either one or two tranches.
Transport Infrastructure Expansion, which has berthed audacious 700 kilometers Lagos-Calabar Coastal road, Badagry-Sokoto super Highway, 284 kilometers Kano-Katsina-Maradi rail project and Kaduna-Kano rail and many others on-going across the country.
Global Recognition of Economic Reforms, that has facilitated Sovereign Credit Agencies upgraded outlook for Nigeria, and also with Nigerian Stock Market experiencing unprecedented boom, a development that has caused market capitalization crossing ₦150 trillion mark.
Monetary Policy Confidence, that has necessitated the Central Bank slashing interest rate in five years with the ultimate effect on the rebounding of the real sector of the economy.
As general elections draw closer, the ruling party has incredible momentum.
The NWC and leadership hierarchy must seize this momentum to achieve the party’s dominance in the forthcoming polls.
With all intents and purposes, the projected 12 million votes would not be compensatory for the president’s passion, zeal, courage, patriotism focus, and resourcefulness and more especially, audacity that has accompanied the aforementioned accomplishments.
The party must therefore aim higher to about 20 million vote’s projection which is quite achievable.
If this is eventually achieved, it lofty goal would be the difference between a president who is building, transforming, re-fixing, repositioning, and restructuring the country for the benefit of the present generation and generation yet unborn, and those spent forces who had been previously placed in position of authority, but chose to destroy the country, appropriating the nation’s treasury, as well as her monumental assets and prize legacy onto their estates through the instrumentality of Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
If not that Nigeria has a shock absorber to accommodate all excesses and humongous financial infractions visited upon her in the past, which country would they have aspired to rule now?
