Aiyedatiwa commits to integrity, faith, responsibility as Ondo marks 50th anniversary

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, integrity and accountability, emphasising that faith and civic responsibility must remain central to leadership and public service.
He spoke on Friday at the Ondo State @50/Golden Jubilee Jumat Service held at the Central Mosque in Akure, part of activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary. The Governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for blessings on the state and described the milestone as a time for reflection, honour and renewed dedication to service.
Tracing Ondo State’s 50-year history, Aiyedatiwa said the state was created out of vision, courage and a desire to bring governance closer to the people. He acknowledged that its founders laid a foundation grounded in integrity, resilience and collective responsibility.
He noted that despite challenges, Ondo State has progressed through divine guidance and communal effort, nurturing human capital and building a society rooted in moral and ethical values. “Faith has remained central to our development, inspiring civic responsibility, communal solidarity and service to others,” he said.
The governor assured that his administration’s policies and projects would continue to promote equitable development, social cohesion and the welfare of all citizens. He also commended religious leaders and scholars for their guidance, describing them as indispensable partners in governance and societal growth.
Looking ahead, Aiyedatiwa said his priorities include inclusive economic growth for urban and rural communities, youth empowerment, and human capital development through education, skills acquisition and enterprise, anchored on moral values. He added that institutions would be strengthened to enhance transparency, efficiency and sustainability.
Earlier, the Chief Imam of Akure, Sheikh Abdulhaheem Yayi-Akorode Albarka (JP), praised past and present leaders, noting that the state’s progress reflects decades of dedicated service. He commended the governor for infrastructural projects, sponsoring Muslims on pilgrimages, and strengthening education, while urging more support for city cleanliness and greater Muslim representation in the state cabinet.
Special prayers were offered for Ondo State, the governor, and Nigeria as a whole, calling for continued development, inclusiveness and good governance across all communities.
