Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Election Campaign Council in the state, urging party members to unite and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan. Aiyedatiwa, who chairs the council, urged members to take the campaign to every community, stressing that the party’s numerical strength alone would not guarantee victory without unity and effective grassroots mobilisation.
The governor said the APC must build on the coalition and cooperation that brought it to power in 2015, noting that retaining power was essential to protecting the interests of party members and their communities. “It is only when we retain power that your individual interests and community interests can be met. All of us must work together to achieve total victory,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa urged campaign officials to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu administration and his government in Ondo State to persuade voters. He cited regular salary payments, road and bridge construction, graduate training programmes, hospital equipment and investments in education as some of his administration’s accomplishments.
He also pointed to the Federal Government’s reforms and major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as achievements the party could showcase to secure support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Similarly, Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami urged APC members to intensify house-to-house and street-to-street mobilisation, setting a target of at least one million votes for Tinubu in Ondo State. He called on party leaders, women, youths and other groups to participate actively in the campaign.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, and the Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Pius Akinyelure, also urged party members to work towards victory. Akinyelure expressed confidence that the APC could surpass its one-million-vote target, while the state party chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, said the campaign would focus on communicating the achievements of the federal and state governments to residents.
The Director-General of the campaign council, Victor Olabimtan, pledged to work with party members to secure Tinubu’s re-election and victory for other APC candidates. Other party leaders at the inauguration included Senators Remi Okinrinboye and Tayo Alasoadura, Chief Olusola Oke and the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti.
