Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has directed that work on the Akure-Idanre road dualisation project be accelerated, assuring residents that the long-awaited project will be delivered on schedule.

Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance on Friday during an inspection of the ongoing construction along the Oke Aro axis of Akure, where he interacted with residents and road users.

The governor said his administration was committed to completing the project within the stipulated period, stressing that the government was aware of the importance of the road to residents, motorists and economic activities in the area.

“We will ensure that the project is expedited and completed on time. We understand its importance to the people and the need to improve movement along this corridor,” the governor said.

During the inspection, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olawoye, briefed the governor on the progress of work and provided explanations on the technical aspects of the project.

Responding to appeals from residents for improved access roads, Aiyedatiwa promised that some adjoining roads would also be constructed to complement the dualisation and enhance connectivity within the area.

“We will look at the adjoining roads and ensure that the necessary connections are provided so that the benefits of the major project can extend to more communities,” he added.

The governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, and the Commissioner for Finance, Omowunmi Isaac, during the inspection.
