Nollywood thespians host special prayer for Ogogo amid cancer battle

By Damilola Akinwale –

The Nollywood community has hosted a special intercessory prayer for their ailing colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, amid his battle with cancer.

The thespians gathered at the BOS Hall (Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu Hall), LTV 8, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday to offer intercessory prayers through Islamic clerics.

Western Post earlier reported that the veteran actor had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer and was receiving treatment in a hospital.

The Nollywood community rallied around him following his daughters, Shakira and Haleemh’s, public appeal for further medical and traditional treatment options, alleging that the hospital had refused to continue treating him.

Days after the public appeal, Nigerians offered medical, traditional and spiritual support to aid Ogogo’s recovery. However, the family declined the offers, explaining the reasons for their decision.

According to his family and colleagues, the actor could not be relocated from the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment, despite receiving hundreds of offers of medical assistance.

They appealed to people who had offered to treat him through traditional and other means not to take offence at their inability to move him from his current hospital.

The special prayer was held to seek divine intervention in Ogogo’s condition, with prayers for God to strengthen him and grant him full healing and recovery.
