Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to address the concerns of candidates affected by irregularities in last year’s recruitment exercise conducted by the State Universal Basic Education Board.

The governor gave the assurance on Friday during the May Day celebration held at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade in Akure, where he acknowledged the plight of applicants who were either issued fake appointment letters or were not captured in the official records.

Aiyedatiwa said the state government would regularise the appointments of the affected candidates and ensure they are properly integrated into the system.

He stressed that the process would be handled in line with established procedures to guarantee transparency and proper documentation.

“We are aware of the issues surrounding the SUBEB recruitment exercise, and I want to assure all affected applicants that necessary steps will be taken to correct the anomalies,” the governor said.

“Those who were genuinely affected will be absorbed and properly captured, in accordance with due process,” Aiyedatiwa added.

In a related development, the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Dr Abike Bayo-Ilawole, directed the affected applicants to report at the board’s office on Monday for further processing, assuring that all necessary steps would be taken to conclude their recruitment and documentation in line with laid-down guidelines.

The governor’s announcement has sparked emotional reactions from the beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude, with some seen prostrating and celebrating the development.
