Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps to distinguish themselves through impactful service and projects that would benefit their host communities.

The governor’s charge was conveyed by the Ondo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.

He urged the corps members to put into practice the values of patriotism, discipline, teamwork, leadership and national unity acquired during the orientation programme as they begin their primary assignments.

Aiyedatiwa also encouraged them to embrace Community Development Service by identifying pressing challenges in their host communities and undertaking initiatives capable of improving the lives of residents.

He stressed that the success of the service year would not be measured by its duration but by the positive and lasting impact the corps members leave behind.

The governor further advised them to conduct themselves with integrity, respect the traditions of their host communities and avoid involvement in political or traditional affairs during their service.

He also urged the corps members to maximise the opportunities provided under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to develop practical skills for self-employment, assuring them that the state government would continue to prioritise their safety and welfare.

At the event, Mr. Williams Daudu received a commendation award in the NYSC category, while Mrs. Oluwatosin Yinka Mary of the Man O’ War was honoured in the non-NYSC category for their outstanding contributions during the orientation course.
