Akanu Ibiam International Airport gets aerodrome certification from NCAA

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Tuesday, at its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, formally presented the Aerodrome Certificate for the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The ceremony was described as a major milestone in Nigeria’s aviation industry by the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, who was represented by the Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Alh. Ahmad Abba, mni.
Najomo noted that the certification is a testament to the NCAA’s commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices, particularly as Nigeria prepares for ICAO Continuous Monitoring Approach activities.

He commended FAAN for its cooperation and dedication throughout the five-phased certification process leading to the approval.
In her remarks, the Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Commercial and Business Development, Ms. Adebola Agunbiade, expressed appreciation to the NCAA, technical teams from both agencies, and other stakeholders involved in the process.
She assured that FAAN would sustain compliance with regulatory requirements and continue to improve operational standards across all airports under its management.
