Tinubu inaugurates restructured NRS, moves to strengthen Nigeria’s revenue generation, fiscal sustainability

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the newly restructured Nigeria Revenue Service via the commissioning of its new headquarters as part of efforts to strengthen revenue generation and fiscal sustainability in the country.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Abuja, brought together top government officials, economic stakeholders, and representatives of key financial institutions.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu said the establishment of the agency marks a significant step toward improving tax administration and blocking revenue leakages across all sectors of the economy.
He noted that the new structure is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the management of public funds while boosting non-oil revenue.
The President further charged the leadership of the agency to adopt innovative strategies and digital solutions to expand the tax net and ensure compliance among individuals and corporate bodies.
In his remarks, the head of the agency, Zacch Adedeji, pledged to reposition the service into a world-class institution capable of meeting Nigeria’s growing fiscal demands.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the reform would address longstanding challenges in revenue collection and support sustainable economic growth.
The inauguration is widely seen as part of broader economic reforms by the Tinubu administration aimed at stabilizing the nation’s finances and reducing dependence on oil revenue.
