The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade has declared the purported installation of Isunmaila Kolawole Salami as Babaloja of Oyo illegal, describing the action as null and void.
As contained in a statement issued by the Alaafin’s spokesman, Bode Durojaiye, on Saturday, any chieftaincy title or equivalent appointment not duly approved by the Paramount Ruler of Oyo Kingdom, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, will not be recognized under any circumstance.
The crown further warned that it would not tolerate any action capable of undermining the authority and sanctity of the traditional institution, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace, order, and due process.
The palace equally disclosed that the controversial installation was carried out by a group allegedly led by Mrs. Odunayo Danjuma, without adherence to established traditional procedures or official authorization.
Following the development, Isunmaila Kolawole Salami was directed to immediately desist from parading himself as Babaloja of Oyo or face severe consequences.
The Alaafin went on to caution members of the public against engaging in any dealings with him in connection with the purported title, warning that such actions would be at their own risk.
