Alaafin names new Chief of Staff, Special Adviser

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has appointed Barrister Rotimi Osuntola as his Special Adviser and Mr. Bayo Ajibade as the new Chief of Staff.
Barr. Osuntola, who served as Chief of Staff from January to early April 2025, made the announcement on Tuesday in a press release titled “Re: My New Role as Special Adviser to His Imperial Majesty, The Alaafin of Oyo.”
He expressed gratitude for the new role, describing it as a privilege to serve the throne of Oyo in any capacity deemed fit by the monarch. He highlighted his early support for the Alaafin, contributing financially, intellectually, and morally alongside others who believe in preserving the Alaafin’s legacy.
Osuntola reflected on his role during the monarch’s rise, including helping to build a strong team, overseeing a smooth selection process, and preparing for a coronation that honors Oyo’s royal heritage.
While acknowledging Mr. Ajibade’s appointment as the new Chief of Staff, Osuntola congratulated him and urged all stakeholders, both within and outside the country, to support him in the new role.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Oyo and Yorubaland, pledging to continue contributing his leadership experience from both local and international platforms.
Osuntola also vowed to serve the Alaafin and the Yoruba nation with unwavering dedication and sincerity, as he has done throughout his career.
He concluded by thanking members of the royal household, stakeholders, and the people of Oyo for their trust, promising continued efforts to build a future that honors their heritage.
