The Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has congratulated Chief Mrs. Margaret Shonekan, wife of the late Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, on the occasion of her 84th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued on Tuesday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin expressed deep admiration and respect for Chief Mrs. Shonekan, describing her as “a shining example of resilience, kindness, and generosity.”

“Today, as we gather to honour your extraordinary life, I am reminded of the indelible mark you have left on our great kingdom and the world at large,” the monarch said.

He lauded her contributions to education, women’s empowerment, and community development, noting that her efforts have inspired many and contributed significantly to the growth and prosperity of Oyo State.

Oba Owoade praised the octogenarian for her lifelong dedication to serving others, especially the vulnerable and marginalized, describing her as a beacon of compassion and leadership.

“You have demonstrated that age is merely a number and that one’s passion for making a difference knows no bounds,” he added.

The monarch prayed for continued good health, strength, and wisdom for Chief Mrs. Shonekan, urging her to remain an inspiration to future generations of Oyo sons and daughters.

“On behalf of the Palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, I wish you a happy 84th birthday celebration. May this special day be filled with joy, love, and happiness,” he concluded.
