Ambode pledges support for Hamzat, APC ahead of Lagos governorship poll

Former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, pledging support for the party in the upcoming elections.

Ambode gave the assurance in a statement on Wednesday, where he described Hamzat’s adoption as a reflection of loyalty, commitment and long-standing dedication to the party’s ideals.

He pledged to work with other party leaders to ensure victory for the APC at both state and federal levels in the forthcoming elections.

“I join my fellow members of the All Progressives Congress to congratulate my brother and friend, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of our great party,” Ambode said.

He added that Hamzat’s consultations with party leaders demonstrated commitment to unity and progress within the APC.

Ambode expressed confidence that Lagos State would benefit from Hamzat’s experience in governance, describing his emergence as a product of years of service to the party.

He also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating that Lagos and Nigeria’s prosperity depended on continued governance under the current administration.

The former governor said the party’s goal was to deliver massive electoral victories, including strong support for Tinubu at the presidential level and victory for APC candidates across all positions.
