Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested a 29-year-old man, Olomi Dada, for allegedly stealing iron rods from the palace of the traditional ruler of Odigbo in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Dada was among suspects paraded by the security outfit in Akure, the state capital, on Monday, following his arrest in connection with the alleged theft.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that he was initially invited to the palace to carry out a job, where he allegedly noticed some iron rods kept beside the building.
He was said to have returned to the palace later, allegedly believing that nobody was around, and attempted to remove the materials.
However, his plan reportedly failed as Amotekun operatives apprehended him at the palace while he was allegedly trying to cart away the iron rods.
The suspect’s arrest was disclosed during the parade of criminal suspects by the Ondo Amotekun Corps, with the incident attracting attention because the alleged theft occurred within the premises of a traditional ruler’s palace.
The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the agency would ensure that suspects arrested over criminal activities were subjected to proper investigation before being prosecuted in line with the law.
Adeleye warned those involved in criminal activities to desist, assuring residents that the corps would sustain its operations to safeguard lives and property across Ondo State.
