The Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has arrested a 56-year-old ex-convict, Ayo Akinpelu, and five others for various theft-related crimes across the state.
Akinpelu, a native of Ondo Town in Ondo State, was apprehended in Ipetu-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area, for allegedly stealing two goats. According to a statement signed by Amotekun spokesperson, Yusuf Abass, the suspect hid the animals inside his Lexus SUV but was intercepted by residents who insisted on searching his vehicle. He was later handed over to the Oriade command of Amotekun operatives.
During interrogation, Akinpelu confessed to stealing goats for over seven years, slaughtering them to prepare pepper soup sold in his beer parlour in Ondo. He further revealed that he used salt to lure the animals and admitted to being an ex-convict previously jailed for similar offences.

In a separate operation, Amotekun operatives arrested two men — 30-year-old bricklayer, Sodiq Adeshina, and 25-year-old electrician, Kareem Marouf — in Oluponna, Olaoluwa Local Government. The duo were caught with electrical appliances and cables worth over ₦450,000 stolen from an uncompleted building.
Similarly, in Ilesa, three suspects identified as Ayo Akanni (22), Bamiwo Sogo (18), and Bamiwo Israel (18) were arrested while attempting to burgle shops at Atakumosa Market. Stolen electronics, household utensils, provisions, and building materials worth millions of naira were recovered from their hideout.
Speaking on the arrests, the Osun Amotekun Commander, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring that all suspects would face prosecution.
