The Osun State Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, has deployed 500 operatives across Osogbo to ensure adequate security during the 2025 Osun Osogbo Festival scheduled for Friday, August 8.
Corps Commander, Chief (Dr) Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, in a statement by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu, said the operatives would be strategically positioned at major festival venues, key routes, and public gathering points. He noted that the corps is fully prepared for both visible and undercover security operations.
Omoyele warned criminals, including pickpockets, hoodlums, and other mischief-makers, to stay away from the festivities, stressing that anyone found disturbing the peace would be dealt with according to the law.
“The Osun Osogbo Festival is not only a cultural celebration but also a significant event that brings global attention to our state. We will not allow anyone to undermine the peace and sanctity of this revered celebration,” he said.
He added that Amotekun operatives would be fully alert and strategically positioned to ensure law and order are maintained throughout the event.
The Corps Commander urged residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly and report any suspicious activity or security concerns to Amotekun operatives or other law enforcement agencies.
“We urge everyone to celebrate in moderation. If you notice anything unusual, please alert the appropriate authorities. The safety of our citizens and visitors is not negotiable,” he stated.
Omoyele reaffirmed the readiness of the Osun Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with other security agencies, to provide a peaceful atmosphere during and after the festival.
