By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –

The Kwara State Artisan Congress on Tuesday commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his consistent support to the body since 2019, noting that he has stood by them at all times.

The group said many of its members have benefited from the state’s social investment scheme, which also made it possible for them to secure land for their permanent secretariat, now under construction.

Speaking at a meeting briefly attended by the Governor in Ilorin, Chairman of the Congress, Alhaji Jimoh Adesina, said the administration has significantly improved the socio-economic lives of Kwarans, particularly the business community.

On the Governor’s entourage were the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo; Senior Adviser and Counsellor, Alhaji Saadu Salau; Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah; and Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Danmegoro, among others.

Adesina credited the purchase of the land for the secretariat to the Governor’s support and urged the administration to continue assisting the Congress, particularly in the areas of employment opportunities and mobility aids.

Governor AbdulRazaq assured that his administration will keep prioritizing the welfare of Kwarans, including artisans, through various social programmes.

He promised to consider their requests, including the completion of the secretariat, and reaffirmed his commitment to empowering artisans and other groups.

The Governor added that legitimate businesses and community initiatives will continue to benefit from the state’s social programmes aimed at boosting livelihoods.
