APC vows to unseat Governor Adeleke as campaign begins in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared that the commencement of campaigns for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the State signals what it described as the beginning of the end of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement, the state chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, said the start of the official campaign period, as directed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), marks the statutory process for removing the governor through the ballot.
Lawal alleged that the last three years of the Adeleke administration have been characterised by misgovernance and policy somersaults, claiming that the government has turned the state into a political and administrative experiment.
He also accused the governor of concentrating development projects in his hometown, Ede, at the expense of other local government areas, while alleging nepotism in political appointments.
“We are not unaware of the poor showing of the Governor Adeleke-led administration in sectors such as education, health, agriculture, provision of developmental projects, science and technology, environment and sanitation, finance, economic planning and budget, human resources and capacity building, information and strategy, justice, lands, physical planning and urban development, local government and chieftaincy affairs, regional integration and special duties, women affairs and child development, works and transport, youth, sports and special needs, commerce, cooperatives and empowerment, and other spheres of governance,” Lawal said.
He added that Adeleke’s three years in office had shown him to be unfit for public office, alleging that he lacked the leadership capacity required to move the state forward.
Lawal, however, expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and his running mate, Benjamin Adereti, saying they had been preparing to provide purposeful leadership for the state. He urged APC members and supporters across Osun to conduct their campaigns peacefully and with civility, describing such an approach as the hallmark of the party.
